Apple Ships OpenDoc Development Framework

OpenDoc Development Framework (ODF) Release 1 Delivers a Rich, Robust Framework for Building OpenDoc and Cyberdog Components

WWDC, SAN JOSE, California--May 13, 1996--Apple Computer, Inc. today announced the premiere release of OpenDoc Development Framework (ODF), an object-oriented, cross-platform framework for developing OpenDoc and Cyberdog components.

OpenDoc Development Framework (ODF) simplifies the development of OpenDoc and Internet-savvy components by providing a rich infrastructure of classes, libraries and default behaviors. With ODF you can develop OpenDoc components that are Internet-savvy and can plug-and-play with other OpenDoc and Cyberdog parts and containers.

ODF Release 1 which is provided in source code form by Apple, is available on the Macintosh today. ODF can be used with Macintosh Programmer's Workshop, Metrowerks CodeWarrior, Symantec C++ for Power Macintosh, and other popular development environments.

"Beginning with ODF Release 1, we offer Release-to-Release Binary- Compatibility between releases thus protecting your development efforts for the long term," said Sharada Achanta, Frameworks product manager. "Developers building OpenDoc parts have been praising ODF as a superior development framework that has significantly improved their productivity."

ODF Release 1 is available now on the WWW and in the OpenDoc DR5 SDK.
